KUCHING, June 3: There is a Covid-19 cluster in Forest Department Sarawak (FDS) but all necessary actions have been taken to mitigate the situation.

According to a reliable source, FDS does have a cluster involving some of its staff who contracted the virus after returning from a cross-district trip.

“However, all appropriate steps have been taken to ensure that those who are positive for Covid-19 are isolated and quarantined.

“Close contact tracing had also been carried to ensure that their families were all swabbed and tested and those tested positive were quarantined.

“Most of those who were put under quarantined had even returned home except for one or two. The whole situation had been dealt with properly,” said the source.

DayakDaily contacted the source after receiving an anonymous tip-off.

According to the tipster, there is an ongoing but unreported as yet Covid-19 cluster in FDS. The tipster claimed a group of ten staff were allowed to travel cross-district last month for non-urgent field work outside of Kuching, and eight of them have been confirmed positive for Covid-19 while the remaining two are awaiting test results.

The tipster also claimed that few updates have been given by the authorities over the matter and there is uncertainty over whether the matter is being dealt with properly to prevent other colleagues and family members from being infected, or even if investigations are underway. — DayakDaily
