KUCHING, Oct 13: All affected passengers of MYAirline’s sudden suspension are requested to contact the airline’s customer care service at customercare@myairline.my to initiate the refund process.

The Sarawak Transport Ministry also encourages all affected passengers to contact MYAirline Customer Care Service directly and at the same time submit their enquiries or file their complaints to Mavcom’s consumer hotline.

Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said it is estimated that about 125,000 passengers nationwide are affected by the sudden suspension of MYAirline, including those who have purchased their tickets in advance.

The estimation is based on the approved schedule for MYAirline flights from Kuala Lumpur to Sarawak airports — three daily flights to Kuching, two daily flights to Sibu and one daily flight to Miri.

Lee expressed disappointment with MYAirline for their abrupt suspension of their operations effective Oct 12, 2023.

He said this has caused a great deal of inconvenience and unhappiness to the passengers who have purchased their tickets in advance.

“It is irresponsible on the management part for not giving prior notice for the suspension,” said Lee in a statement today.

Lee had personally contacted the Executive Chairman of the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) and he has been assured that all efforts would be taken to assist affected passengers.

The Ministry of Transport Sarawak had also received several calls from the affected passengers asking for assistance on the refunds and further information on the suspension.

“Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom), Malaysia Airports (MAHB), and other airlines (AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, and Batik Air) are also extending their assistance to the affected passengers,” said Lee.

He said the affected passengers may change their flights to the other airlines which are offering discounted airfares.

MAHB has deployed its resources at relevant airports within its network to extend all possible assistance to the stranded passengers while Mavcom had also set up the commission’s consumer hotline at 1800-18-6966 (within Malaysia) or by email at consumers@mavcom.my or enquiries@flysmart.my for any enquiries or complaints.

Yesterday, MYAirline cited financial pressures as the reason for its abrupt suspension of its operations with immediate effect until further notice. — DayakDaily
