KUCHING, Dec 17: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a continuous rainfall alert (Advisory) for Sarawak, effective from Dec 19 to 22, as a monsoon surge is expected to bring persistent rain to the region.
According to MET Malaysia, the latest weather model analysis predicts the monsoon surge will last until Dec 22, affecting several regions, including the eastern Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, Sabah, and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
The advisory for Sarawak, alongside Johor and Sabah, will be in effect starting Dec 19, while the alert for the eastern Peninsular remains active until Dec 19.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions as heavy rain may increase the risk of floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
The public is advised to monitor updates through METMalaysia’s official website at www.met.gov.my, its social media platforms, and the myCuaca mobile application for accurate and timely information.
Authorities have encouraged the public to prepare for potential disruptions and ensure safety measures are in place during the alert period. — DayakDaily
