SERIAN, July 9: The Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Kota Samarahan, now under renovation, will be ready by September this year.

According to Kota Samarahan Mosque Welfare Trust Board chairman Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, renovation works are now at 98 per cent completion.

“We have been carrying massive renovation works in the past two years to replace the roofing, among others,” Naroden said.

He explained that about RM17 million from the State government is spent on renovation works.

He earlier presented sacrificial cattle to seven State seats within the Samarahan division at PPS Ternak, Halal Abbatoir Complex in Siburan.

The State seats are Stakan, Gedong, Sebuyau, Sadong Jaya, Asajaya, Simunjan and Muara Tuang, which received 10 cattle each ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Naroden pointed out that the mosque would be the best in the State and become a new landmark for the Samarahan division.

“For the mosque, we engaged with a local consultant, and the design is beautiful — almost similar to the one in Nilai, Seremban, which is regarded as the most beautiful mosque in the country,” he said.

He added that the mosque could accommodate 3,000 worshippers at a time.
