KUCHING, July 23: AirBorneo has urged passengers to book flights only through its official sales channels, warning that tickets purchased from unauthorised third-party websites and online platforms could expose travellers to scams, hidden charges and booking complications.
In a statement today, the Sarawak-owned airline said it has in recent months encountered cases of unauthorised reselling, or scalping, of its tickets through third-party aggregators.
It warned that passengers who purchase tickets through these channels may face inflated fares, unauthorised administrative charges, delayed or failed booking confirmations, and difficulties in obtaining refunds or rebooking assistance when flights are disrupted.
“AirBorneo wishes to remind passengers that the safest and most reliable way to purchase flight tickets is directly through the airline’s official sales channels,” it said.
The airline said passengers who book directly with AirBorneo are assured of accurate and up-to-date fares without hidden mark-ups or undisclosed service fees, immediate booking confirmation, and the flexibility to reselect seats at no additional cost.
They will also have direct access to customer support for rebooking, refunds and disruption assistance, while remaining fully entitled to compensation and protections under the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code (MACPC) 2016.
In addition, AirBorneo said only its official sales channels are able to verify and guarantee the authenticity and validity of flight tickets.
The airline stressed that it does not authorise the resale of its tickets at marked-up prices by unofficial agents or platforms and cannot be held responsible for issues arising from bookings made outside its official channels.
Passengers are advised to purchase tickets only through AirBorneo’s official website, mobile application, authorised AirBorneo ticketing counters or appointed travel agents.
Those who come across suspected fraudulent listings or encounter problems with third-party bookings are encouraged to contact AirBorneo’s customer service for assistance.
