KUCHING, April 6: AirAsia commenced its first late-night flight at fixed fares for Hari Raya celebration to Miri with 100 per cent load factor.
In a media release yesterday (April 5), AirAsia announced that the all guests aboard AirAsia flight AK 9644 were sent off with a special ceremony by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Foke and AirAsia Aviation Group chief executive officer Bo Lingam at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2.
The special extra flights, launched by the Minister on March 4, offers 22,000 seats from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru to 11 destinations in East Malaysia at fixed rates of RM298 to Sarawak and RM348 to Sabah, inclusive of all charges, one way.
Loke expressed the Ministry’s satisfaction in facilitating affordable ‘balik kampung’ fares for the public through AirAsia’s fixed-rate flights, which were launched the previous month.
āThanks to their commitment, thousands of Malaysians including all 186 passengers tonight have been able to fly home affordably to Sarawak and Sabah.
āThe government will continue to work hand-in-hand with industry players to improve the efficiency and affordability of our public transportation for Malaysians. We wish everyone safe travels this festive season,ā he said.
Similarly, Bo Lingam expressed excitement over inaugurating the first of the airline’s 122 special extra flights at fixed fares for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.
As the peopleās airline, he emphasised that this initiative is a testament to their commitment to ensuring affordable fares for guests during this joyous occasion.
āThe Hari Raya festive season is one of our busiest periods with more than 500 flights daily in operations across all our hubs and we will continue to work hard to fly our guests home safely,ā he added.
Guests who are travelling this Hari Raya Aidilfitri period are highly encouraged to self check-in using the AirAsia MOVE app (formerly known as the airasia Superapp), which is available as early as 14 days before the departure date and use the e-Boarding Pass to board the flight.
For an enhanced travel experience, guests are recommended to enroll their details for FACES on the AirAsia MOVE app to pass through pre-security and seamlessly board the flight without having to display their boarding pass and identification.
Due to the high passenger volume this upcoming festive season, guests are also advised to allow plenty of time and be at the airport at least two hours for domestic flights before the scheduled departure time.
All guests are allowed to bring onboard a maximum of two cabin bags as part of the baggage allowance with a total weight of 7kg for both items and are suggested to ensure they have purchased sufficient baggage allowance in advance for the best value. ā DayakDaily
