SRI AMAN, Nov 18: An ailing 65-year-old senior citizen from Kampung Sembau has received much attention and assistance from various local community organisations.

Among the community organisations that had visited were Komuniti Harapan Malaysia (KHM) Ladong/Lemanak branch, Surau Wahdah Al-Ummah, Kampung Melayu Tanah Sembau and Tanah Baru Hilir Neighborhood Committees (KRT).

KHM Ladong/Lemanak branch chairman Safudin Lebey said community delegations had come forward with contributions and donations in the form of cash, food, and also kitchen ware.

“I have learned that Omon Jol has been suffering from illness for the past few months, and he had recently been admitted for the treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“After being informed that he was discharged from the hospital, we continued to pay Omon a visit at his house at Kampung Sembau and at the same time, came up with a contribution to help ease the financial burden on his medical expenses,” he said in a statement today.

Saifudin noted that Omon will undergo periodic examinations by a specialist doctor stationed in Sri Aman.  He said although the donations may not be enough to bear the full cost of the medical expenses, at least it could help reduce the burden on the family.

Meanwhile, Omon’s wife was touched by the concerns shown by many. She was thankful to all who had contributed and donated.

“I am deeply moved that there are others who are willing to assist to ease the burden of our family.  The contributions will help to relieve the medical expenses,” she said.  — DayakDaily
