KUCHING, Sept 15: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Bilah Shah has expressed regret for not being able to stop at several locations in Sabah and Sarawak as scheduled in the recently concluded ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour.
Comptroller of the Royal Family and Household, Major General Dato’ Indera Zahari Mohd Ariffin, said the locations in Sabah were Menara Kayangan in Lahad Datu scheduled on Sept 4 and Tagal, Sungai Morol, Ranau the following day (Sept 5).
In Sarawak, the King’s entourage was not able to visit Yu Lung Sian En Si Temple in Sibu scheduled on Sept 11 as well as Masjid Bandar Sri Aman and Fort Alice in Sri Aman the following day (Sept 12).
“His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and their entourage were not able to visit the locations due to unavoidable and unintentional factors.
“Their Majesties, in greeting the thousands of people who were waiting along the road, also did their best to attend the state banquet with hundreds or thousands of attendees at the time that had been set on the days in question,” he said in a statement issued by Istana Negara today.
Zahari also said that the King and Queen acknowledged the excitement and spirit of the people who had faithfully waited for the arrival of the entourage to meet, shake hands and take pictures with them at those locations.
“His Majesty said, if the situation permits, His Majesty intends to visit the people in those locations in the future.
“Furthermore, if the situation does not permit, it is possible that his children will represent His Majesty,” he added. — DayakDaily
