KUCHING, Aug 25: Kuching has earned a spot on digital travel platform Agoda’s list of Asia’s most budget-friendly destinations this summer, making it a top pick for savvy travellers seeking an affordable getaway.
According to a press release dated July 2, 2025, the ‘Cheapest Summer Destinations’ ranking was based on average room rates in the ten most popular destinations across nine Asian markets, highlighting the most wallet-friendly options for summer travellers.
Agoda described Kuching as a cultural gem which offers a mix of heritage sites, local cuisine, and access to natural attractions like Bako National Park.
“Its laid-back vibe makes it a great choice for a summer getaway,” said the press release.
Agoda listed Kuching sixth in its list of nine destinations, with an average room rate of S$53 (approximately RM114) per night.
Trailing behind Kuching were Nagoya, Japan, with an average room rate of S$90 per night; Kaohsiung, Taiwan (S$90); and Daejeon, South Korea (S$93).
As for the top five, Surabaya, Indonesia, topped the list with an average room rate of S$35 per night, followed by Tirupati, India (S$37); Hat Yai, Thailand (S$39); and Dalat, Vietnam (S$45). — DayakDaily
