Afternoon fire ravages Rh Eloh in Ulu Sebauh

Rh Eloh in Sungai Segan, Ulu Sebauh was 90 per cent destroyed in an afternoon fire.

KUCHING, June 11: The 24-door Rh Eloh in Sungai Segan, Ulu Sebauh, Bintulu, was 90 per cent destroyed in a fire incident today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement revealed it received the emergency call from the public through Malaysia Emergency Response Services (MERS) 999 about a fire that broke out in Rh Eloh at 2.31pm.

According to the statement, a team of 12 firefighters from BBP Bintulu led by PBK II Stephent Plen was rushed to the location, together with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) unit and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.

“After arriving at the location, operation commander TPgB I Christus Buson, reported that the fire incident had destroyed 90 per cent of the longhouse structure.

“Firefighters proceeded to carry out the operation to put out the flames by using four nozzles with 500 feet length, by utilising open water sources connected to Bomba machinery. No casualties were reported,” the statement read.

The firefighters managed to bring the situation under control. As of press time, firefighters are still carrying out overhaul works at the location. — DayakDaily
