
Afiq Fadhli first Sarawakian elected in International Esports Federation

KUCHING, Dec 7: Sarawakian Afiq Fadhli Narawi has been elected to represent Malaysia on the International Esports Federation (IESF) Board, making him the first representative from Sarawak to hold the position.
He described the election as a milestone for both himself and the State, saying it highlights Sarawak and Malaysia’s growing presence in the global esports arena.
“For Sarawak, this election opens the door to greater recognition on the international esports stage.
“I am committed to supporting local talent, developing grassroots esports programmes and creating pathways for our youth to participate in global competitions.
“By building partnerships, fostering education and encouraging innovation, we aim to position Sarawak as a hub for esports development in Malaysia and Southeast Asia,” he said in a statement today.
The IESF concluded its 17th Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, alongside the 17th World Esports Championship Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Finals.
During the 10th IESF Elections, Vlad Marinescu was re-elected as the 10th president of IESF, securing his second term.
