Affordable housing project with special quota for S’wak Bomba personnel proposed

KUCHING, April 8: An affordable housing project that includes a special quota for Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel has been proposed.

According to TVS, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Sarawak Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said that the initiative is to express appreciation for firefighters’ contributions, as well as to help secure comfortable and affordable housing for them.

“I have shared this idea with the management of Sarawak Bomba. My proposal is to provide affordable housing near this area, with a specific quota reserved for Bomba personnel.

“They have served with dedication, and now it is our responsibility to ensure their welfare,” he said at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri event hosted by Sarawak Bomba at the Sungai Merah station in Sibu on April 7.

He said that the project is still awaiting approval from the relevant authorities and expressed hope that it would bring substantial benefits to Bomba personnel in Sarawak.

In addition, he informed that the Sarawak government has allocated RM200,000 annually for the maintenance and improvement of fire stations across the State.

Bomba deputy director-general (development) Othman Abdullah, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) director Jamri Masran, and Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh were also present. — DayakDaily
