KUCHING, Feb 18: Affin Bank will open six more branches in Sarawak by this July, bringing the number of branches in the State to 14.

Affin group president and chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah Wan Ali said the bank, which currently operates eight branches across Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, will set up six additional branches at key locations in Sarawak as part of the bank’s commitment to expand its services and strengthen its presence in the State.

“Our commitment is to serve all segments—from consumer to corporate and SMEs (small and medium enterprises)—with our award-winning financial services,” he said at the bank’s Chinese New Year dinner last night (Feb 17) which was attended by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, according to Bernama.

He added that the bank is targeting a 12 per cent growth in its loans for Sarawak this year, following a 10 per cent increase in 2024 that brought the total loans to RM3.2 billion.

Affin also plans to host its first Affin Corporate Day on Feb 28 here in its commitment to foster economic growth and strategic partnerships in the State.

“This event will serve as a platform to showcase our comprehensive financing and investment solutions, tailored to empower Sarawak’s businesses, investors, and communities,” he added.

The Sarawak government is currently the single largest shareholder in Affin Bank, with a 31.25 per cent stake.

This came about after it secured an additional 26 per cent equity interest by signing a sale and purchase agreement with the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) and Boustead Holdings Bhd on Sept 27, 2024. — DayakDaily
