KUCHING, Nov 18: The active case detection (ACD) operation for Covid-19 conducted at a factory at Demak Laut here since Nov 16 had found two positive cases as of 12pm today (Nov 18).

The positive cases had led to the creation of Besi Cluster in Kuching with the index case being Case 1,040. So far, five cases were linked to this cluster.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, revealed that the ACD operation by the State Health Department and various other agencies was initiated following a positive Covid-19 case detected in the location.

A total of 221 individuals have been screened and the results released on Nov 17 found one positive case in the first screening. The case was linked to positive cases being reported prior to this.

Up until 12pm today (Nov 18), SDMC added that one individual has been found positive.

SDMC also assured that sanitisation and cleaning activity had been carried out by the premises management under the supervision of State Health Department and other agencies.

The State Health Department expressed thanks to all who were involved in the ACD operation.

Meanwhile, SDMC also reported that a two-day ACD operation, starting today, is currently ongoing at Banting Housing Scheme at Lawas.

Conducted by the Limbang Division Disaster Management Committee, a team of 120 people from the Ministry of Health, Resident’s Office, Lawas District Office, Civil Defence Force, Rela, and the police were mobilised to man the ACD operation.
