ACD at Tiong Hua, Sibu uncovers 8 new Covid-19 cases

SIBU, Feb 23: The Active Case Detection (ACD) operation in Tiong Hua on Feb 20 and 21 detected eight positive Covid-19 cases.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a report giving Covid-19 situation updates for Sarawak, disclosed that eight of 1,207 samples collected during the ACD operation had returned positive.

Yesterday (Feb 22), the Tiong Hua zone reported four cases: at Lorong Tiong Hua 4 (3 cases) and Laichee (1 case).

Tiong Hua is one of 31 zones and sub-zones under the jurisdiction of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).

As of yesterday, Tiong Hua which was labelled as a Covid-19 red zone recorded a total of 154 positive cases.

Today, Sibu reported 28 new cases with 17 through close contact screenings to positive cases, six cases viafrom other screenings at healthcare facilities, four cases involving symptomatic screenings and one case linked to the Pasai Cluster.

There are three active clusters in Sibu with only the prolific Pasai Cluster reporting two cases which were detected in Sibu and Dalat respectively. This pushed the cumulative number of cases in the Pasai Cluster to 2,648.

The Geronggang and Mas Merah clusters did not report any new cases today. — DayakDaily
