Accusing DAP of Christianisation shows ‘lack of intelligence’, says party youth leader

Brolin Nicholsion

KUCHING, Sept 19: Serian DAP Youth chief Brolin Nicholsion has fired back at PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man for accusing DAP of Christianisation.

“His remark shows that he (Ibrahim) is either unaware of the Federal Constitution or he is bankrupt of ideas,” he said in a press release today.

Under the DAP constitution, Brolin pointed out that there was not a single item to indicate that the party was pro-Christian or that of any other religions.

“DAP respects the Federal Constitution and recognised that Islam is the (official) religion of the Federation. The article also provides that every person has the right to practice their religion.

“So where is the rationale in Tuan Ibrahim’s claim that DAP brought Christian propaganda to the forum?” he continued.

Ibrahim alleged that the speech of Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Steven Sim to a forum at Mega Chinese Methodist Church in Kota Damansara, Selangor, last week, supported claims the predominantly Chinese party was trying to Christianise the nation.

He claimed that Sim was zealously promoting the “Kingdom of God”, a Christian concept of a spiritual realm over which God reigns or the fulfilment of God’s will on Earth.

Brolin stressed that it was every individual’s right to practice their religion so long that it did not violate the Malaysia Constitution.

“Where is the unification of ummah spirit that PAS and UMNO signed recently? Wasn’t it in the speech of UMNO’s president that the unification is not just for UMNO and PAS, but also to all races, religions?” he questioned.

He described Ibrahim’s accusation against Sim as planting seeds of hatred to divide the nation.

“Please do some research before making any statements because as PAS deputy president, you will appear less intelligent. A King of the ancient kingdom once said, ‘Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers everything’,” he said.

Ibrahim also reminded DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) not to band about the “bogeyman” propaganda that the unification of the ummah as a klepto-theocracy, talibanism, racism and extremism. — DayakDaily
