KUCHING, Oct 5: Access to Kampung Pa’Dalih in the Bario highlands has been sealed off after a man from the village recently tested positive for Covid-19 in Kuala Lumpur.

Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala said contact tracing swab tests have been done on the villagers and now no one is allowed to enter or exit the village, including residents from surrounding villages.

“Those are the precautionary measures taken so far. In the meantime there is no further development as we are still waiting for the results,” he told DayakDaily when contacted today.

The male patient was on a work break when he returned to Kampung Pa’Dalih on Sept 25.

He stayed at his home in the village until Sept 28 before driving to Miri and boarding a plane to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Sept 29.

He then tested positive for Covid-19 when his results came out on Oct 1, according to the news portal The Star.

“And because of that, the medical department in Miri had already gone to (Kampung) Pa’Dalih two days ago (Oct 3) to do the swab tests on the people at the village.

“The total number of villagers tested was 117,” said Gerawat. — DayakDaily
