KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap hoped that the new federal government will speed up the restoration of Sarawak’s rights including amending the Federal Constitution.

Yap held that both the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had previously promised to do so but did not deliver on it.

He also hoped that the new government will have a strong majority that will put the people above politics and sincerely resolve the predicament and sufferings of the people caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yap believed that Malaysia is now in urgent need of a competent prime minister who is able to inspire confidence and execute effective policies to overcome Covid-19 pandemic and revive the country’s economy.

“Malaysia cannot afford to go back to the failures and political games of the past few years.

“The new government should be one that puts an end to political games once and for all, restoring good governance and focusing on doing the right thing for our people,” he said in a statement.

On another note, Yap who is also SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) Chief had recently gone for a walkabout to monitor the repair work of a burst pipe at Jalan Hup Kee after being approached by an affected resident.

He explained that the burst pipe has been repaired and urged anyone who faced problems or come across problems of public interest to contact SUPP PCB.
