Abdul Karim to duke it out with three other opponents in Asajaya

KUCHING, Dec 6: N15 Asajaya incumbent Dato Sri Abdul Karim Abdul Rahman Hamzah will be defending his seat against three opponents in the 12th Sarawak Election.

The three opponents are Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Mahmud Epah, Parti Bersatu Sarawak (PSB) candidate Ishak Buji and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Mohamad Mahdeen Saharuddin.

Election commission returning officer Rais Ahmad revealed that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Abdul Karim was the first to hand in his nomination paper at Dewan Utama SMK Hajjah Laila Taib at 9.01am.


This was followed by Ishak (9.06am), Mohd Hamden (9.10am) and Mahmud (9.14am) without any objection from the EC.

The Parti Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president will be defending his seat for the fifth time in Asajaya, which he won with a large majority in 2016.

In 2016, Abdul Karim obtained 6,163 votes against PKR candidate Abang Junaidi Abang Gom, who garnered 2,085 votes with a voter turnout of 76.63 per cent. — DayakDaily
