KUCHING, May 18: Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will remain in Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) Supreme Council (MKT) following his appointment as the party’s new Publicity Chief, replacing Datuk Idris Buang.

The appointment was announced by Sarawak Premier and PBB president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a party meeting held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last night (May 17).

Abdul Karim, who previously served as one of the party’s vice presidents but failed to retain the post in the recent party election, expressed his gratitude for the continued trust placed in him.

“I am thankful to the Premier and party president for appointing me. This shows that there is still confidence in me to continue contributing within the party’s supreme council,” he told reporters when met afterwards.

He added that although the responsibilities are not entirely new to him, having previously served as the party’s vice president, the focus this time will be more structured and in closer collaboration with the party’s top leadership.

He stressed that in his new role, he would work closely with the party’s secretary-general, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, and the president to ensure all public communications reflect the party’s official stance.

“As Publicity chief, I will ensure that every statement released is aligned with what the party wants to convey and not based on individual views,” he said.

Abdul Karim currently serves as Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, as well as Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development. — DayakDaily
