KUCHING, July 28: Pesta Nukenen plays a key role for Highland entrepreneurs to develop new products and build new brands, said Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Abdul Karim, who is Minister for Tourism, Creativity and Performing Arts, said Pesta Nukenen 2022 also helps preserve and celebrate the unique culinary arts and performance culture of the Kelabits.
“This modest event has become a big tourism draw for Sarawak, adding more spice and flavor to our tourism offerings, and helping us put Sarawak in the minds and imaginations of travelers from all over Malaysia and the world,” he said when attending the Pesta Nukenen Bario 2022 – 15th Bario Food and Cultural Festival in Bario, today.
In his speech, Abdul Karim also congratulated the organising committee for steadfastly holding the every year.
He said pulling off such a significant event like this, in a remote and exotic location like Bario, is a challenging endeavor, one which the Kelabits have accomplished through their ingenuity and community spirit time and time again.
