KUCHING, April 22: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was touched by the enthusiasm shown by members of the public in celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“Maybe because after the Covid-19 pandemic, we have not celebrated Hari Raya in such an atmosphere.
“I saw guests arriving non-stop. This is a (show of) good harmony from our multi-racial and -religious community,” he told reporters.
Abang Johari said he is confident that the future of Sarawak is bright with prosperity, and there is strong unity among the people of Sarawak.
“How we managed development and the future of our economy and social inclusivity would produce a greater Sarawak. We are grateful we have managed our economy well,” he said.
During the open house, members of the public gathered from as early as 9am at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), where they were treated to a delicious buffet spread consisting of loved Raya dishes such as beef and chicken rendang, ketupat, satays, and cakes.
Also present to welcome visitors were Abang Johari’s wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, and his elder brother, Dato Sri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Openg. — DayakDaily
