KUCHING, Nov 7: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Rodiyah Sapiee for P200 Batang Sadong is the coalition’s first female engineer being sent to the warzone.
GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said with an engineering background; the graceful lady will be able to assist the people on the ground in terms of infrastructure development.
“You (Batang Sadong people) are lucky because your candidate is an engineer, so if you want infrastructure, she can help.
“On Awla Dris’s (Simunjan assemblyman) request for roads, Rodiyah will be able to assist Awla because she has an engineering background.
“This is a first that our female candidate is from the engineering field,” he said during a leader with the people ceremony held at Kampung Tanjung Pisang in Simunjan today.
Earlier in his speech, Awla requested for RM3 million allocation to upgrade the roads to six villages in Simunjan.
He also requested the Sarawak government to pump in RM800,000 for the construction of RM1.1 million ruai (open communal space) in Kampung Ensengei Iban.
Following this, Abang Johari has approved RM3 million and RM850,000 for the construction of roads and ruai projects, respectively.
At the same time, Abang Johari also officiated Darul Amillin Mosque in Kampung Tanjung Pisang.
Amongst those present were Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Minister for Utility and Communication Datuk Julaihi Narawi and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
