KUCHING, Dec 17: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was reelected as the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok branch chief unopposed.
PBB Satok deputy chief Ibrahim Baki revealed the result after Abang Johari officiated at the branch’s triennial general meeting at Pullman Hotel here today, adding that all the other senior posts were also unopposed.
Earlier during the officiating ceremony, Abang Johari expressed his delight that many professional party members of the Satok branch came forward with various ideas to realise his aspiration to bring Sarawak into the digital economy.
In his speech, he said this was a good indication that the old were willing to give way to the young and new, not only for the betterment of the party but also for the development of the state.
He said in today’s era of the Internet, most of the issues of concern to the people are of wellbeing and the future, while the era of people posing issues of infrastructure developments is slowly residing.
This meant that today’s leaders should also come up with new and modern solutions to the new and complex issues of the people, Abang Johari added.
“The people now pose new era issues, so we need new era solutions. The young leaders now have better and modern knowledge and would be able to come up with the best solutions.
“So we old generation must make way for the younger generation and work closely with them. Because eventually we will have to let go and they will take over,” he said to some 500 delegates at the meeting. — DayakDaily
