KUCHING, Dec 17: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg advises Dayak leaders to follow the example of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Bumiputera wing to set up an investment arm like Perbadanan Amanah Satok.

He said this would enable the Dayak community not only to earn an income but also they would be able to retain their land and assets, and eventually develop it themselves.

Speaking when officiating at the party’s Satok branch triennial general meeting at Pullman Hotel here today, Johari said he had seen too many Bumiputera losing their assets and lands to outsiders because they do not have the money to maintain or develop them.

“I have spoken to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas about this. I urge the Iban and other Dayak leaders to do the same (set up investment arms) and ensure that those running it are completely honest and trustworthy.

“We do not want our Bumiputera assets, especially in the urban areas, slowly eroding and taken over by somebody else,” he said.

Perbadanan Amanah Satok was launched in 2014 to allow Bumiputera especially in Satok urban areas to be involved in business development.

Presently, Abang Johari said, the initial investment of RM2 million since Perbadanan Amanah Satok was launched had doubled to RM4 million. He said it would take another two to three more years before it would be opened to the public to invest in. — DayakDaily
