KUCHING, June 18: Sarawak’s Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is no longer a ‘kampung’ party as it is now on par with development in other countries, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He was referring to the State’s efforts in embarking on new energy and natural resources such as hydrogen and carbon industries.
“That is why I was recently invited to Port of Rotterdam in Holland to deliver a keynote address (on Sarawak’s readiness for the hydrogen economy).
“I do not want to be arrogant. I’m very humble, but (I must stress that) the world has recognised the potential of Sarawak in Malaysia,” he said when officiating at the 15th PBB Convention launching ceremony at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Abang Johari, who is also the PBB president, further said that many foreign countries and investors have started to look at Sarawak.
“Many outsiders have come to Sarawak. Just the other day, ‘sik berasa’ (time flies so fast), the Ambassador of Germany to Malaysia, Dr Peter Blomeyer, came to visit.
“Before that, we welcomed a delegation from South Korea. And before that, it was Belgium’s delegation.
“All of them were showing interest in the potential of Sarawak in terms of green energy. The South Koreans, for example, want to capture carbon and store them in Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
