KUCHING, Nov 22: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg leaves the appointment of the 10th prime minister to the King but maintains his decision to form an alliance with Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN), and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
According to a press statement issued today by the Premier’s Office, Abang Johari who is also Premier of Sarawak has submitted a proposal to establish the government of Malaysia from a coalition consisting of PN, BN, GPS, and GRS, which represents the inclusiveness of Malaysian society comprised of various races and religions.
Given the political turmoil in Peninsular Malaysia, GPS is of the opinion that the people’s mandate should be respected.
Therefore, GPS leaves it to the discretion of the King in accordance with the powers allocated to His Majesty in the Malaysian Constitution to appoint a prime minister who will lead a strong government to govern the country.
GPS insists that the interests of the country are prioritized and the establishment of a stable government takes into account the interests of the people and the country above personal interests. — DayakDaily
