KUCHING, Nov 15: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced an administrative complex in Siburan would be constructed soon, after Siburan has been elevated to a full district.

Abang Johari stated this at the launch of the SJK Chung Hua Siburan Sports Complex today in Siburan.

“We will build an administrative complex now that Siburan has been elevated from a sub-district to a full district.

“This will, of course, take time; we cannot do it right away. However, we have done our planning for 2023, and have given a special allocation to upgrade Siburan in terms of infrastructure.

“So that is what we will do, and once completed, it will benefit Siburan residents,” he said, in response to a request from Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, who raised the issue earlier in his welcoming speech.

Abang Johari also revealed that a Siburan district council would be formed.

“Now that we have a full district, the next step is to form a Siburan district council, with officers serving as the liaison between the government and the residents.

“Siburan now has district officers, Siburan district officers (DOs).

Kalau marek bergantung kepada Serian. Kalau nak jumpa DO pergi Serian, aritok mok jumpa DO, ada di Siburan, kerana Siburan dah ada DO. (If before, (the people) have to rely on Serian. If (they) want to meet the DO, go to Serian, today, if (they) want to meet the DO, (there is) in Siburan, because Siburan now has DO.)”, Abang Johari remarked.

Also present were Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn and GPS candidate for P198 Puncak Borneo Datuk Willie Mongin. — DayakDaily
