KUCHING, Oct 24: All candidates contesting in the 15th General Election (GE15) need to be vetted by the Election Commission (EC), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and Malaysian Department of Insolvency.
Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said he has yet to reveal the party’s candidate list pending the vetting process.
“It (Candidates) must be vetted by EC, MACC, and the Insolvency Department (so) I do not have the list.
“I’m waiting for them to submit the list (to me),” he told the press during his Deepavali visit to senior lawyer Shankar Ram Asnani’s restaurant here today.
Responding to DayakDaily’s query, Abang Johari, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president, further explained that it is true that the GPS component parties each have submitted their list of candidates.
“But you know, each (parliamentary) constituency has two or three candidates (from their party branches).
“So I have to vet all of them in case we have to select one of them,” he added.
