KUCHING, July 6: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today witnessed the presentation of financial aid contributions from Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) and Social Security Organisation (Socso) to the widow of the late Mohamad Hussein Ali at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.
The Chief Minister’s Office in a press statement said Mohamad Hussein, 56, had served as an assistant of the Corporate Communication Unit at Saberkas.
It explained that Mohamad Hussein passed away last May at Sarawak General Hospital due to kidney problems.
Meanwhile, the handover of the financial aid was represented by Saberkas secretary general Safiee Ahmad to Selina Hamdi, who is Mohamad Hussein’s widow, at the Chief Minister’s office here.
Safiee, who is also Daro assemblyman, presented a cheque of RM27,222.40 to Selina while Socso presented a contribution of RM2,000 as funeral expenses.
The Chief Minister’s Office said besides funeral expenses, Selina has also received whole life monthly pension benefits and financial aid for her children until they reach 21 years of age.
Among those present at the financial aid presentation ceremony were Sosco Sarawak director Phillip Sangkan and Sosco Prihatin Squad Kuching officer Abang Mohammed Razali Abang Salleh. —DayakDaily
