KUCHING, Nov 6: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will introduce amendments to the Sarawak Constitution in the upcoming Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) session to improve anti-hopping laws in Sarawak.
Abang Johari made the announcement earlier today during the Sarawakku Sayang programme held at the Engkilili Multipurpose Hall in Sri Aman.
“We will amend our Sarawak Constitution at the end of this month, when the DUN is in session.
“This is to improve the anti-hopping laws in Sarawak because we don’t want ‘kataks’ (frogs).
“’Kalau banyak gilak katak, susah kita’. (If there are many frogs, it’ll be difficult for us),” he asserted.
He emphasised that this is the first time he has revealed that Sarawak’s anti-hopping laws will be amended.
“Therefore, let us carefully consider who will represent our people.
“Because Sarawakians want leaders with good intentions, not frogs.
“Politics is not a personal matter; it is a combination of platforms used to fight for the people,” he remarked.
Also present at the event were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment and Batang Ai assemblyman Datuk Dr Malcom Mussen Lamoh, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (Creative Industry and Performing Arts) Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (Youth and Sports Development) Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, and Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (Talent Development) Datuk Francis Harden Hollis. — DayakDaily
