Abang Jo grants Yayasan Sarawak scholarships to 3 STPM top scorers from Limbang

KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has verbally granted Yayasan Sarawak scholarships to three students from Limbang who passed the 2021 STPM exams with flying colours.

Abang Johari’s announcement came in conjunction with the 51th State-level Teacher’s Day celebration in Limbang which he was officiating today.


“I was told that three from Limbang — two from SMK Kubong, and one from SMK Merapok, have scored excellent results in their STPM exams.

“With that, we will give the Yayasan Sarawak scholarship to these students to celebrate this Teacher’s Day in Limbang today,” he said.

Learning that this year’s STPM results showed an overall improvement despite a challenging year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Abang Johari congratulated the teachers of these high-achieving students.

“I heard about the STPM and SPM results. I have to say congratulations to the teachers who cultivated these students.

“I heard there has been an improvement in the overall results. I’m sure the parents are very thankful to the teachers as well,” he added.

Among other dignitaries also present for the celebration were Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Sarawak Education director Datu Dr Azhar Ahmad, Limbang MP Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, Bukit Kota assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang. — DayakDaily
