KUCHING, Aug 3: In Sarawak, let there be no ‘termites’ or those that cause harm from the inside out, says Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said that a State, like a building, if infested with termites, it would appear good on the outside, but dangers are underlying within.
“Because if we have those who are like termites in Sarawak, it will have a bad effect on our State.
“But, thank goodness, we don’t have any ‘termites’ in Sarawak that will hinder the development of the State,’ he said.
In terms of good leadership, Abang Johari said future leaders must be educated with high quality training to avoid ‘termite’ behaviours when it is their turn to administer Sarawak.
While Sarawak politics is stable, he urged Sarawakians to also pray for political stability in Putrajaya for the good of all the people.
“Thank God, when I took over from the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, I managed to get the people’s confidence. This is motivation for me and my colleagues to work hard to develop our beloved Sarawak.
“We have stable politics here in Sarawak. Let us also pray that Kuala Lumpur regains political stability, and never have three prime ministers in three years again,” he said when launching the new Surau Darul Ehsan Tun Abang Haji Openg at Kampung Bunga Raya, Limbang today.
Among other dignitaries present were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and Deputy Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Datuk Abdul Rahman Ismail. — DayakDaily
