KUCHING, March 10: Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang’s appointment as Federal Deputy Health Minister II will go well with Sarawak’s rural population’s needs, according to PRS Youth Chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
In a statement today, Snowdan revealed he is glad Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin chose to appoint one of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS)’s Members of Parliament to his cabinet.
Describing the new Federal Cabinet line-up as a convincingly different with a few Sarawakian ministers, Snowdan opined Muhyiddin has made a smart manoeuvre by not appointing a Deputy Prime Minister as this would resolve the complications of lobbying efforts.
“More hearteningly, Muhyiddin showed compassion towards Sarawak by giving (sic) four full ministers and five deputy ministers from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, holding various portfolios in the federal government.
“The numbers woùld have sufficed and Sarawak is also well represented even if Ali Biju (MP Saratok) and Willie Mongin (MP Puncak Borneo) were not in it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Snowdan asserted that their expectation of Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof’s return to the helm of the Works Ministry has come true.
He disclosed the completion of the Pan Borneo Highway project shall remain in Sarawak’s priority list.
“Of course, Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi (Tuanku Jaafar), Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri are familiar and experienced faces in Putrajaya. Now they are back with high enthusiasm, much to Sarawak’s pride and delight,” Snowdan added.
PRS Youth also thanked Muhyiddin for including new faces from Sarawak such as Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Hasbi Habibollah and Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.
“We trust and believe that our elected representatives will deliver and pursue Sarawak’s interests especially in respect to Malaysia Agreement (MA63), since we now have Ministry of National Unity (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) who will be helmed by another East Malaysian and Sabahan.
Meanwhie, as the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Snowdan looked forward to a closer rapport and working relationship with the new Federal Minister for Youth and Sports Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and his deputy Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal. — DayakDaily
