KUCHING, Aug 10: A cow destined for Hari Raya Haji sacrifice made a daring last-minute escape but its attempt at freedom failed after falling into a drain in front of SK Siol Kanan last night.

Seven firefighters from the Petra Jaya fire station were dispatched to the scene after Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 11.45pm.

According to one of the firefighters, they had to first tie the cow to a pole and fence of the school as it was very strong and aggressive.

“But during the struggle, the cow knocked against the fence and it somehow gave way and fell down as it was unable to hold the weight,” he said.

“Once the cow was secured with ropes, we pulled and winched it out with the assistance of the FRT vehicle,” he added.

The cow was finally captured at 2.30am.— DayakDaily
