KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13: The federal government and the opposition parties have signed a momentous memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bipartisan cooperation.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the bipartisan cooperation with the opposition parties was in the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia and in line with the decree by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for all parties to practise “deliberative democracy”.
“The government is convinced that this MoU will not just set aside all political differences but capable of ensuring the country’s recovery in a holistic and inclusive manner.
“The transformation to be introduced will not just strive towards good governance in tackling Covid-19 and the recovery of the country’s economy but also act as a catalyst towards a conducive investment climate and spur strong economic growth for the well-being of the Malaysian Family,” he said in a statement.
Ismail Sabri added the MoU consisted of six initiatives which include the empowerment of Covid-19 plans, administrative transformation, parliamentary reforms, judicial independence, Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63), and the formation of a steering committee.
