KUCHING, May 30: A total of 92 beds are now ready at the Low-Risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre for Covid-19 (PKRC) at the Youth and Sports Complex hall here.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian especially expressed thanks to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Kuching Resident Office for setting this up on a short notice.

He also thanked Senior Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi for facilitating federal facilities at the CIDB Convention Centre, Petra Jaya and College Rafflesia, Unimas.

These two centres, he said are being prepped also as PKRCs in view of the surge of Covid-19 cases in Kuching and Samarahan.

“(This is) truly our Sarawak spirit of solidarity and united war efforts. Federal or State governments don’t matter but focus and prioritise to save Sarawakians’ lives.

“(There is) no time and not the time for politicking,” he said in a social media post today.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Local Government and Housing, also thanked the medical frontliners for stretching their working hours to the maximum in their respective lines of duty though there exists a breaking point before the medical system collapses. — DayakDaily
