BAU, Sept 24: The upcoming 8th Edition of the Siniawan Country Music Festival 2025 (SCMF 2025), to be held at the newly completed RM10.8 million Siniawan Waterfront, is expected to draw record crowds and generate over RM1 million in revenue.
Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh said the three-night festival, scheduled for Sept 26 to 28, is expected to attract between 18,000 and 20,000 visitors, up from last year’s 17,000 attendees and revenue of under RM1 million.
“For this year’s SCMF 2025, which will be held at the much larger Siniawan Waterfront, we are expecting a crowd of up to 20,000 people and revenue exceeding RM1 million,” he told a press conference at Bau District Office Complex today.
He noted that the grand scale of this year’s event will coincide with the official opening of the Siniawan Waterfront by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Sept 27.
It will also mark two other milestones, the 185th anniversary of Siniawan town and the 15th anniversary of the Siniawan Night Market.
The festival lineup will feature one band each from Kalimantan and Sabah, three bands from Kuala Lumpur, and four local groups performing across the three nights.
Miro also revealed that the second phase of the Siniawan Waterfront project, valued at RM4 million, will be tendered this year, with construction expected to begin in 2026.
He described the waterfront as an iconic landmark with the potential to boost tourism, adding that several programmes are already planned for the site.
On another development, Miro announced that the RM28 million four-level car park in Siniawan will be tendered either next month or by November, with construction anticipated to commence next year.
“We have completed all documentation for the car park project, and the tender will be called soon. Hopefully, construction can begin next year,” he said. — DayakDaily
