88 offenders who flout SOP during MCO in Sarawak compounded

KUCHING, June 2: Some 88 offenders who flouted the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) were compounded by the police in the last 24-hours.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement on its daily update for Sarawak disclosed that Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has issued 31 compounds in Kuching, Bintulu (12), Miri (8), Mukah (7), Tatau (7), Saratok (7), Sarikei (6), Kapit (6) dan Matu Daro (4) for various violations.

Among the offenses were not practicing physical distancing, having more than the allowed number of passengers in a vehicle, going out for no valid reason, hanging out at public places after 8pm, no face masks, premises listed as non-essential services remaining open, not registering with the MySejahtera app or manual book and crossing districts without permission.

This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18, 2021 to 7,045.

Meanwhile, the Ministry for Local Government and Housing also issued three compounds, one each for Matu, Miri and Subis districts over the related offenses.

To-date, the ministry has issued total 849 compound since Feb 1, this year. — DayakDaily
