KUCHING, Jan 7: An 86-year-old woman from Sarikei is the latest Covid-19 fatality reported in Sarawak today.
According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, the deceased passed away on Jan 5, 2022 at Sarikei Hospital with several commodities, namely high blood pressure, diabetes, obstructive chronic renal disease, and heart disease.
Meanwhile, the committee also informed that 18 Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the State, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 252,461.
Of the total cases, 10 are in Category 1 (asymptomatic) and eight in Category 2 (mild symptoms), while zero cases were reported under Categories 3, 4, and 5.
By district, Kuching and Miri reported the most number of new infections with five cases each, followed by Bukit Mabong with three cases, and Samarahan with two cases.
Three other districts, namely Bintulu, Lundu, and Sri Aman reported only one case each.
As of today, no new clusters have been reported in Sarawak. ā DayakDaily
