SIBU, Feb 22: A total of 86 units of Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) affordable housing in Kemuyang here will be ready by April this year.
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, said the units were part of the 2,500 RSP units that will be built across the state, as announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg last year.
“Currently, 86 units of the RSP are being built by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and another 24 units are in progress.
“The 86 units will be completed by April this year. Prices range from RM90,000 to RM160,000,” he told reporters media after a site visit to the housing project today.
RSP Kemuyang Sibu will cater for families from Kampung Datu, Kampung Hilir, Nyabor and Kampung Bandong, with a total of 813 lots allocated for development.
Dr Sim said more affordable housing units would be built following the chief minister’s announcement.
“There will be 2,700 units to be built, which is an additional 200 units,” he said, adding that funds had been set up for the project.
According to him, RSP is a Sarawak government programme to help the B40 and M40 groups own a home.
Out of 2,500 units, 1,383 units are currently under the funded under the 11th Malaysia Plan, namely Darul Hana in Kuching (564 units), Bunga Rampai in Bau (122) and Kemuyang in Sibu (110).
This included RSP Lundu (26), RSP Sematan (25), RSP Igan (22), RSP Tian (20), Ranggau Limbang (128), Kampung Baru Dua (75), Kampung Tabuan Melayu in Kuching (258), RSP Lingga (10), Mejelin in Miri (20) and Kampung Datu, Sibu (3).
For the remaining units, HDC has identified seven new sites that involved the construction of 1,406 units of the RSP of Resettlement Scheme Bau (164 units), Tabuan Melayu (Slippers End) (200), Permyjaya III (278), Kanowit II (98), Lundu (240), Village Enhancement Scheme/Resettlement Scheme (264) and New Spaoh Village Enhancement Scheme (162). — DayakDaily
