KUCHING, Dec 2: The public toilet at the 7th Mile Wet Market in Kota Sentosa is set to get a facelift with a project value of RM205,195.
In a press release, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap officiated the handover of the Letter of Award (LOA) ‘RTP Upgrading of the Public Toilet at the 7th Mile Wet Market’ project to Faiz Enterprise, the appointed contractor for the project, during a ceremony today.
“This public toilet upgrading project reflects the Sarawak government’s continuous effort to improve community facilities in high-traffic areas. It is a follow-up to another RM400,000 rural transformation project (RTP) completed in 2023 that upgraded major sections of the 7th Mile Wet Market,” said the press release.
Yap, who had in 2023 strongly advocated for holistic improvements to the market, said the toilet upgrade is essential to ensure a cleaner, more hygienic and user-friendly environment for traders and shoppers.
He emphasised that such projects are proof of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s consistent delivery of meaningful development.
“The people of Kota Sentosa deserve modern and well-maintained public facilities. As part of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) within GPS, my commitment is to resolve long-standing issues and continue bringing in development that directly benefits our community,” he said.
Yap also thanked the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) officers for their support and monitoring role throughout the implementation process.
He reiterated that infrastructure and public amenity upgrades will remain one of his top priorities, especially in markets, commercial centres, and public spaces that serve thousands of residents daily.
“SUPP in GPS will continue to focus on real work, real delivery, and real improvements. Every project reflects our commitment to serving the people of Kota Sentosa,” he added.
Work on the project will commence once the contractor mobilises on-site. — DayakDaily
