The victim was located by a tourist guide approximately 500 metres from Camp 5.

Upon arrival, MOCSAR personnel administered first aid by dressing the head wound to stop the bleeding and fitting a cervical collar for neck support.

Given the severity of the injury, the Bomba Sarawak Operations Centre requested aerial evacuation support from the department’s Air Unit to transport the victim to hospital.

The victim was reported to be conscious but had sustained significant head trauma and bleeding.

Bomba Marudi later confirmed that the victim would be airlifted to Miri Hospital by Layang-Layang Aerospace Miri Sdn Bhd, accompanied by a medical team from the hospital. The trek from Mulu National Park Headquarters to Camp 5 typically takes four to five hours on foot. — DayakDaily
