KUCHING, March 21: A 73-year-old man reported missing nearly two weeks ago was found dead in an oil palm plantation in Serian yesterday (March 20).

According to a statement by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the man’s body was found by plantation workers about 4km from his residence in Kampung Taie at Jalan Bali-Riih.

The body was confirmed to be the missing person following identification by the victim’s family member through the black shirt and jeans worn by the victim.


“The victim’s body was then handed over to the police to be sent to Serian Hospital,” Bomba said.

On March 9, the victim was reported missing in a forest area in Kampung Taie.

A search and rescue operation involving firefighters assisted by 10 police officers, four auxiliary police officers, and 30 villagers, was activated following the report. — DayakDaily
