MIRI, Sept 30: A 70-year-old man who was reported missing five days ago was found dead near Kampung Beraya Batu 1 yesterday (Sept 29).
Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a report regarding the discovery of a body near a vehicle at around 5.05pm.
Acting on the tip-off, a team from the Tanjong Lobang police station was dispatched to the scene where, upon arrival, they found the elderly man lying outside the car.
A medical officer from the Bekenu Health Clinic confirmed that the man had passed away.
The body was taken to the Forensic Department at Miri General Hospital for further investigation.
The police have initiated a sudden death investigation (SDR) to determine the cause of death.
The deceased had been reported missing on September 25.
Authorities are urging the public to refrain from speculating about the case, as it may disrupt ongoing investigations.
