KUCHING, Oct 24: A total of 7,039 professionals have registered as members of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) in Sarawak as of Sept 2024, according to Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
According to a TVS news report, Sagah stated that the Sarawak government has been working closely with the Association of Professional Technicians and Technologists (APTT) and other agencies to enhance the skills of the local workforce.
This collaboration aims to empower and strengthen the capabilities of Sarawak’s workforce to ensure it remains competitive at the global level.
Speaking at the Industrial Continuous Professional Development (iCPD) seminar at a hotel here yesterday (Oct 23), Sagah highlighted the State’s ongoing efforts in talent development.
“During the recent MBOT ENTICE 2024 event, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg encouraged individuals to register as technologists or technicians, setting a goal of 10,000 registrations by 2025.
“As of Sept 2024, Sarawak has 7,039 registered professionals, and we are collaborating with APTT and other agencies to achieve this target,” he said.
The minister also revealed that over 500 participants have taken part in iCPD programs held in Miri, Lawas, Bintulu, and Sibu this year.
Sagah added that the iCPD initiative will continue next year, and he hopes to see more involvement from both the industry and the local community. — DayakDaily
