KUCHING, June 30: Seven hundred employees under Hock Seng Lee (HSL) Group in La Promenade Mall and HSL Tower here have received their first Covid-19 vaccine dose yesterday through a combination of the Essential Economic Sectors programme and the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pick).

HSL in a press statement today said the group’s staff in Kuching were all vaccinated, including mall guards and the staff canteen crew.

“The management took proactive steps. Some had been vaccinated through Pick, others opted in for AstraZeneca, but for everyone who didn’t receive a vaccine appointment by last Friday (25 June), HSL registered them under the Essential Economic Sectors programme. On June 29, almost 700 HSL employees from Kuching received their first dose under the economic programme, which is fully paid for by the company,” HSL property admin manager Shirley Loo said.

“This is a happy moment for all of us. It feels like a weight off our shoulders — to know we are part of a safer environment.

“There is an air of optimism among colleagues. We’re also glad the mall is a safer place now for everyone.

“We cannot wait for more normalcy to resume. We want to thank HSL’s Human Resources Department for promoting the benefits of vaccination, ensuring we were all registered under PICK and for coordinating the Essential Economic Sector vaccination programme for quicker vaccination,” Loo added.

Meanwhile, HSL moved into its new headquarters along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway last July, and in the same month, the adjoining La Promenade Mall opened.

The mall is open daily with a free car park and electric car charging station provided.

Its tenants include NOMS, Hock King Authentic Chicken Rice, Rice King, Black Bean Coffee & Tea, Taka Patisserie and others.

The anchor tenants are Choice Supermarket and Sweat Factory, a functional fitness centre.

“We’ve exciting news to announce soon for the mall. Once renovation and fit-out works can continue, we’ll be announcing great new tenants including details about an art gallery and home improvement stores,” Loo said. — DayakDaily
