7 new Covid-19 cases detected in Kuching

KUCHING, Oct 26: A car salesman and an online business entrepreneur were among the seven new Covid-19 case reported in Sarawak today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement disclosed that all seven new cases were identified in Kuching, with five being close contacts linked to the Baki cluster.


From these five, two are neighbours including an elderly woman, while the other three are family members including a student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Haji Baki.

SDMC revealed all the new cases have been admitted to isolation wards at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the car salesman tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 25 after he went to take a Covid-19 swab test on his own initiative at a private health facility after experiencing some coughing.

The online entrepreneur had tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 25 after experiencing a fever and coughing since last Friday (Oct 23).

These new cases pushes the cumulative number of positive Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 803.

SDMC also revealed that four patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

A total of 52 patients are receiving treatment, comprising 49 patients in SGH and three patients in Miri Hospital.

There were 11 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) case reported with four PUI cases awaiting laboratory test results.

A total of 129 Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) were registered into hotels to undergo quarantines, with 1,956 PUS currently quarantined in 23 hotels throughout Sarawak. To date, a total of 28,304 PUS have completed their quarantine. — DayakDaily
