KUCHING, Dec 19: A total of 68 individuals from 12 households in Kampung Sungai Bedaun were relocated to the temporary evacuation center (PPS) at Dewan Sungai Bedaun after their homes were flooded last night (Dec 18).
The PPS was activated at 10.30pm following a rise in floodwaters, affecting 14 families, including five infants, three persons with disabilities, and four senior citizens.
Teams from the Civil Defence Force (APM) were deployed to assist with evacuations and ensure smooth operations at the PPS.
APM continues to monitor flood-prone areas to safeguard residents.
Currently, the weather has improved, and the flood situation has stabilised, leading to a reduction in the number of evacuees.
Other areas affected by rising waters included Selangau near Sibu, Mukah, and Batu Danau in Limbang. However, the situation in these locations remained under control, and no PPS activation was required. — DayakDaily
