66 awarded Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medals in ceremony

KUCHING, Nov 27: A total of 66 individuals were celebrated with the prestigious Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medals marking Sarawak’s 60th Independence anniversary during a special ceremony at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex today.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan presented the medals, accompanied by his wife, Dato Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud.

Among the notable recipients of the Gold Diamond Jubilee Medal were Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and Federal-State Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

Former Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Sri Mortadza Nazarene led the list of Silver Diamond Jubilee Service Medal awardees. Other distinguished recipients included permanent secretary to the Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Chief of Sarawak’s Council for Customs and Traditions Datu Ronnie Edward, Sarawak Native Court Registrar Datu Johnathan Lugoh and Zecon chairman Datu Hamzah Drahman.

Other notable honourees were Datu Wan Alwi Dato’ Sri Wan Hashim, Datu Kameri Affandi, Datu Maria Hasman, Datu Sulaiman Husaini, Dato’ Anthony Nogeh Gumbek, Dato Dr Zaiedi Suhaili, Dato Norhyati Mohd Ismail, Dato Sulaiman Narawi, Dato Abang Shamshudin Abang Seruji, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Liew Jiu Ming, Robert Menua Saleh, Semawi Mohamad, and Bibiana Ng Pei Chin.

In addition, 45 individuals received the Bronze Diamond Jubilee Medal. Leading the list was Dato’ Sri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie, followed by Datu Hasmawati Sapawi, Datu Jack Liam, Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, and Samat Junai.

The ceremony was graced by Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Deputy Minister of Transport Dato Henry Harry Jinep, and Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Buckland Bangik. — DayakDaily
